Birdman Eating, Fitzroy

Birdman Eating, Fitzroy

238 Gertrude St
Fitzroy, VIC 3065

What a disappointing experience. Ordinary coffee, very small serving sizes and they forget they are in the service business. The serving sizes are ridiculously small for a guy. Our son ordered pancakes and received 3 of them, each seemed to be marginally bigger than a 50c coin. We had to order another meal. The food tasted pretty good. It was a cold Melbourne morning and the restaurant was full but the outside tables were virtually empty. We asked for a round of coffees while we waited but we were told they would have to take us off the waiting list if we had coffee at the empty outside tables. People in the service business who forget they are in the service business really tick me off. A bad experience and we won't return.

  1. Had a similar experience at Birdman as well. Don't really enjoy eating at places that give you the impression you are lucky to be eating there.

  2. I am really surprised. Birdman Eating is one of my favourite lunch or breakfast places to go when I am in Melbourne. I am a big eater and always feel satisfied. I have never had any problems with service - it is very friendly and quick - and the coffee, which has to be good for me to go back to a place - always suits me very well. There are lots of vegetarian options and while some of the portions may not be always be enormous, they are meant for sharing and so not particularly expensive if you are there with one or more people. I am usually there alone and the baked eggs are always a good option if you need a dish for one.
